Stefco Industries Announces Expansion Of Bath And HHT Converting Capabilities

Stefco Industries, a Cellynne Holdings Company and a leading paper manufacturer, has announced that it has begun a new paper converting line which will enhance its bath and HHT converting capabilities.

“Stefco has experienced considerable growth in the past year,” says Stefco’s Mario Maltais, General Manager. “Increasing our production capabilities was a natural next step.”

Stefco’s new Line 14 occupies 25,000 square feet at its headquarters in Haines City, FL, and features some of the industry’s latest technologies.

The PCMC Forte, noted to be one of the fastest rewinders available on the market, is capable of producing over 60 logs per minute. It can operate at Web speeds of up to 800 meters per minute while maintaining a high level of paper quality and bulk.

Another component of the new converting line is the TMC UNO high-speed servo sequential multi-roll packaging machine, which is used for wrapping bathroom tissue and household towel rolls in single and double layer formats. The TMC UNO has a broad range of pack configuration capabilities.

The Infinity C-10 automatic casepacker is designed to automatically erect a carton, collate the incoming product, fill the case, and discharge it onto a live roller conveyor. This machine is utilized to pack roll tissue, roll towels, and BRT and HHT packs. With state-of-the-art electronics and a minimum of moving mechanical parts, the Infinity C-10 is able to pack many different case sizes and configurations with minimal change over time required.

With the installation of the Electric 80 Dragon Palletizing Island and Barge LGV System, a Dragon robot will work in conjunction with the Fanuc palletizing robot to automate the palletization of cartons, bundles and poly packs for Display Ready Pallets (DRPs).

Stefco has also upgraded its LGV (Laser Guided Vehicles) systems. Now, bargestyle LGVs will be used to remove finished goods from the ends for the palletizers and deposit them at the centralized stretch wrapping station.

In addition to the added capacity of Line 14, Stefco is also in the process of upgrading two other existing converting lines at its Haines City location. Its Bretting Small Roll Bath Tissue line will begin an upgrade in April, which will include a new cuttingedge winding head and tail sealer. An additional VTP wrapper will be inserted into the line along with a new case packing system. The upgrade will allow for doubled capacity and improve overall product quality.

Stefco will also upgrade the folding section of its Multifold converting line. This upgrade will bring added productivity and enhance the quality of Stefco’s products.

Mario Maltais adds, “Stefco’s continued focus on developing innovative, high-quality tissue and towel products will position us to compete even more effectively in the current marketplace.”

March 5, 2009, Haines City, FL – Cellynne Corporation, the largest independent paper converter in North America, announced that its new paper mill reached an operating speed of 2,000 m/min on February 6, breaking the manufacturer’s record. The Advantage DCT 100HS tissue machine, made by Metso, reached this speed after only 24 days in operation. Cellynne opened its second state-of-the-art production facility on January 12.

"This is the most successful start-up I have witnessed in my more than 30 years in the tissue industry," says Mario R. Maltais, COO/ General Manager of Cellynne Corporation.

With the addition of the Advantage DCT 100HS, Cellynne will add another 130 metric tons daily of high-quality facial, bathroom tissue and towel grades to its production. The new tissue machine has a wire width of 2.7 m and an operating speed of 2,000 m/min.

Just over two years ago, Cellynne launched its first machine of the same model, also supplied by Metso.

Cellynne & Stefco Announces Launch of Second Paper Mill

New Machine Will Enable Company to Increase Output to 70,000 Tons Annually

January 21, 2009, Haines City, FL – Stefco Industries, a Cellynne Holdings Company a leading supplier of quality bath tissue and towel products, has announced the opening of its second state-of-the-art paper mill at its Haines City plant. The new mill began operations on January 12.

“We had a successful startup that went as planned—and paper was at the reel one day ahead of schedule,” said Mario Maltais, General Manager.

The second paper mill will produce 9 to 16-pound tissue grades and will enable Stefco to reach a total manufacturing output of 70,000 tons per year. According to Maltais, the new mill is identical to the first machine—with a few modifications. "It's the exact same machine, with minor changes such as an added dust control system, small changes in the engineering, changes in sheet handling and improvements with the headbox."

The company's first high-tech paper mill was opened in 2006, marking Stefco's transition from a paper converter to a full-service manufacturer. The expansive, multi-million dollar facility has enabled the company to improve the quality of its paper products and reinforce its reputation as a reliable towel and tissue supplier.

"We gained valuable knowledge from launching the first mill, and began immediately planning for the second machine to be installed," Maltais said. "We have high expectations for the new machine. Its addition is just a natural part of our company’s growth and of our ongoing commitment to meeting the changing needs of our customers.”

The second phase of the paper mill project is the installation of a de-inking facility, scheduled to open at the end of 2009.

Opening of New China Facility

Cellynne Corporation, the parent company of Stefco Industries, an integrated paper manufacturer and converter of fine tissue and towel products in the North American market, has announced that it is expanding its paper converting operations overseas. The company has opened a new converting facility in China, where it will soon begin producing folded towels and napkins...

New Expansion & Paper Machine

Holding strong in a weak economy, Cellynne has also announced plans for expansion at its company headquarters in Haines City. The corporation will build a 120,000 square-foot addition to its warehouse, bringing the size of its paper manufacturing plant to 370,000 square feet.

Cellynne Chooses Xirrus Wi-Fi for Paper Manufacturing Plant

March, 2008, Haines City, Florida - Xirrus, Inc., the only Wi-Fi "Power-Play" that can replace Ethernet workgroup switches with Wi-Fi as the primary network connection, announced today the deployment of their Wi-Fi Arrays at the Cellynne Corporation's headquarters consisting of offices, manufacturing, and distribution warehousing.

Cellynne Corporation is a leading manufacturer and supplier of a wide variety of premium paper and towel products, such as jumbo roll tissue, paper towels, folded towels, kitchen roll towels, bathroom tissue, napkins, facial tissue and dispensers for both away-from-home and at-home markets. They are widely recognized in the industry for their innovative products, long-term partnerships with customers, and steady, profitable growth in a changing global market.

To further increase automation with robotics, Cellynne needed a pervasive Wi-Fi network connecting wireless scanners on forklifts, handheld scanners, and notebook computers to the Enterprise Resource Planning system in order to track all materials and products from receiving, to manufacturing, to shipping. However, the traditional controller-based Wi-Fi architectures failed to meet the reliability and coverage requirements within the 238,000 square foot facility.

"Cellynne needed a wireless infrastructure for improved warehouse management," said Russ Mattingly, regional sales manager at Xirrus. "If a forklift picks something up, it needs to be tracked to the central database--Xirrus delivered the Wi-Fi infrastructure needed to make this a reality for them."

"The Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays are an incredibly well engineered wireless platform that provides us with the reliability, coverage, and security needed for our state-of-the-art facility," said Sean Peltzer, IT Manager at Cellynne Corporation. "We push automation to the maximum with robotics--it's great to have a Wi-Fi platform we can rely on and upgrade as our performance needs increase."
